RADON TESTING

Clear answers from Certified Professionals

Radon is a radioactive gas that can cause lung cancer, and it’s more common in the Northeast than most people realize. You can’t see, smell, or taste it, but it can accumulate indoors over time. The Surgeon General identifies radon as the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States. Our inspectors are NRPP-certified radon measurement professionals, trained to detect even trace levels of radon using EPA-approved methods.

How radon enters your home

Radon forms naturally from the decay of uranium in soil. It moves upward through the ground and enters homes through:

How long does a radon test take?

A standard short-term radon test takes 48 hours. We use certified continuous monitors that record readings hourly for accuracy. After retrieval, your results are analyzed and shared with you the same day.

Yes. Fairfield County, CT and Westchester County, NY both have naturally higher radon levels due to soil composition and bedrock. Even homes without basements can test high. The only way to know is to test.  It’s simple, quick, and affordable.

The EPA’s action level for radon is 4.0 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). If your reading meets or exceeds that, mitigation is strongly recommended. Some homeowners choose to install systems even at lower levels for peace of mind.

You can, but professional testing provides more reliable results before closing. Our NRPP-certified monitors log readings continuously and detect fluctuations influenced by temperature or air pressure, things a home test kit can miss.  In addition, most times the seller will give a credit to have a mitigation system installed if high levels are detected.

Every two years, or any time you make major renovations, change your HVAC system, or finish a basement. Testing after radon mitigation is also recommended to confirm the system’s effectiveness.

We test for bacteria, nitrates, metals, sodium, hardness, acidity, arsenic, lead, uranium, radon, and more, plus optional screening for pesticides and VOCs (volatile organic compounds). Results are provided with clear explanations and guidance if treatment is needed.

A flush test runs the water for about 20 minutes to check overall system quality.
A first-draw test samples the water as soon as it’s turned on, detecting lead or copper that may have leached from your pipes overnight. Many homeowners choose both for complete peace of mind.

You should test your water annually if you have a private well, or any time there’s a change in taste, color, or odor. If your home has children or expectant mothers, lead and copper testing is especially important.

Yes. During inspections, we look for evidence of termites, carpenter ants, bees, and powderpost beetles, as well as conditions that can attract them. Early detection can save significant repair costs.

While we’re not a remediation company, we do flag visible signs of mold growth, asbestos-containing materials, or air quality concerns that may warrant professional testing. Our goal is to help you spot risks early.

Most results are available within 24–48 hours after testing is complete. Some lab analyses, such as VOC or metal testing, may take slightly longer. We’ll explain exactly when to expect your report.

We provide home testing services throughout Fairfield County, CT and Westchester County, NY, including Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk, Darien, Westport, Rye, Scarsdale, and neighboring towns.
